The Virginia Wine Expo - A Fabulous Three-Day Epicurean Adventure!
The Virginia Wine Expo (VWE) is the mid-Atlantic’s premier wine and food event. It exclusively features Virginia wineries from every region of the state. Also, attendees will enjoy fine food from top restaurants and specialty food purveyors, live chef demonstrations, wine seminars and more. Each attendee receives a beautiful Schott Zweisel crystal wine glass.
The main purpose of the VWE is to highlight the quality and diversity of Virginia wine.
Attendees will have an opportunity to taste wine, buy glasses and bottles for on-premise consumption and buy bottles to go.
Perhaps the highlight of the weekend is the Friday evening SunTrust Virginia Governor’s Cup Grand Tasting. Back for its second year, this event features the unveiling of the Governor’s Cup award-winning wines. More importantly, from a wine- and food-lovers perspective, attendees will enjoy sampling over 350 bottles of wine (including special reserve wines not available on Saturday or Sunday), heavy hors d'oeuvres and small plates from the region’s finest chefs.
In 2010, there will be new additions to the Expo. The Lincoln Walk-Around Grand Tastings, held Saturday and Sunday, will feature the Whole Foods Market Cheese Pavilion. The Cheese Pavilion will feature a selection of cheeses from around the world, that can be sampled along with the wine.
Also, on Saturday night, the Virginia Wine Expo Sparkling & Sweets will feature Virginia sparkling wine, Virginia dessert wine and a selection of exquisite desserts from some of Virginia’s finest pastry chefs and chocolatiers. And, on Friday afternoon, the World Class Port & Madeira Tasting with Bartholomew Broadbent, one of the world’s foremost experts on wine, will highlight some of the world’s finest ports and Madeira’s and contrast them to Virginia ports and port-style wines.
In sum, the Virginia Wine Expo is
the mid-Atlantic’s premier wine and food event of the year. Don’t miss it!
